Polylite™ ZC-497 Unsaturated Polyester Resin

Chemical/Physical Nature

ZC-497 resin is an unsaturated polyester resin mainly made of purified terephthalic acid, phthalic anhydride, maleic anhydride, and standard diols. It has been dissolved in crosslinking monomers such as styrene and has high viscosity and moderate reactivity.

Benefits and Application

ZC-497 resin has moderate temperature peak, fast curing, high strength and hardness, good water resistance, and high gloss. Suitable for ordinary dark quartz stone products.

Application Guidelines

1. ZC-497 resin does not contain wax, accelerators, or thixotropic additives.
2. ZC-497 resin and its products are sensitive to light and easy to gel after seeing light, so it should avoid opening the package or exposing it to strong light before use. The production of its products should be carried out in a cool and dry factory building.
3. ZC-497 resin is suitable for the production of ordinary dark quartz stone at room temperature and medium temperature curing. Medium temperature curing is more conducive to production control and product performance assurance. Recommended medium temperature curing system: tert butyl peroxyoctanoate TBPO (content ≥ 97%), 1% resin content; Curing temperature: 80 ± 5 ° C for at least 2.5 hours. Recommended coupling agent: gamma methacryloyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane KH-570, 2% resin content.
4. During the production process of quartz stone products, after heating and curing, they should be steadily cooled to room temperature to avoid rapid cooling and prevent product deformation or cracking, especially in winter.
5. The cutting and polishing of quartz stone during the production process should be carried out after sufficient solidification.
6. Moisture absorption of fillers should be avoided, as excessive moisture content can affect the curing of the product and lead to a decrease in performance.
